Chamber’s “Music in the Park” Kicks Off Fall Season This Sunday
A Battle of the Bands competition sets the stage at Cate Square Park

HAMMOND, LA (September 23, 2009)Music in the Park, a free concert series hosted by the Hammond Chamber of Commerce, is back for its second season beginning September 27 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm in Cate Square Park in downtown Hammond.
A Battle of the Bands competition will kick off the season, and feature “For Karma”, “Martian Baller” and “Gamma Ringo.”
“We’re ecstatic to bring Music in the Park back to the community for another season,” said Chair-Elect Michelle Gallo of Child Advocacy Services. “We’ve added some great new bands to the lineup so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
The judges for Sunday’s event are Joey Gautier of Guaranty Savings Bank, Donna Hellmers of the Hammond Chamber of Commerce and Terry Lynn Smith of the Downtown Development District.
The winner will receive $250 and the chance to serve as the opening act for October’s event.
Music in the Park is a free concert series hosted by the Hammond Chamber of Commerce with additional events scheduled for October 25th and November 22nd. After a winter hiatus, Music in the Park will continue with a spring season from March through May.
